[AGIP-7] Transitioning AGLD DAO’s onchain governance platform from Llama to Tally

Summary:

This proposal aims to transition our on-chain governance partner from Llama to Tally. The transition is necessitated by Llama’s decision to sunset their products, and we have identified Tally as a trustworthy and capable partner providing similar services. This change is critical to ensuring the continued functionality and enhancement of our on-chain governance system.

Background:

In April 2024, the AGLD DAO approved AGIP-6, which enabled on-chain governance with Llama as our partner. Since then, Llama has played a vital role in helping us establish and manage our on-chain governance framework.

Recently, Llama decided that they would be sunsetting their product offerings, which include the tools and services we intended to use for on-chain governance. We are sorry to hear this news given that we have worked together with the Llama team on the design and implementation of our upcoming governance platform. The recent development requires us to transition to a new partner to avoid disruption and continue advancing our governance processes. Luckily, most of our existing progress with Llama can be migrated to Tally with surmountable effort.

Tally is the most robust and feature-rich governance application and the only governance application compatible with the latest Open Zeppelin Standard. Tally supports every stage of the governance process including DAO launch, security council elections, delegate registration and discovery, proposal drafting and collaboration (documentation in process), proposal creation with arbitrary executables, no-code transfers, MEV-protected swaps, simulations and safety checks (documentation in process), voting, proposal execution, notifications, DAO analytics, and Gnosis Safe management. Tally natively supports a vast array of wallets, including a first-class Gnosis Safe integration. Tally has a full-featured public API that is used heavily by builders across the Ethereum ecosystem to power governance applications. Tally has been up and running for more than a year and trusted by notable DAOs without exploits such as Arbitrum, Uniswap, ENS, Compound, Gitcoin and Wormhole. Tally is now protecting over $10B worth of DAO assets, hosted more than 7000 proposals & more than 200k delegations.

Proposal Details:

  1. Transition to Tally:
  • We propose to transition our on-chain governance partner from Llama to Tally. Tally will be providing end-to-end governance application, governance smart contract development and a complete platform to onboard DAO members & delegates & host our onchain governance.

  • Noticeably, Tally’s product offering is slightly different from Llama. We are looking to realized the full features mentioned in AGIP-6 into the Tally platform gradually. To start with, we will be implementing AGLD voting & treasury management features with Tally.

  1. Implementation Plan:
  • Migration: Coordinate with Tally’s team to migrate our existing governance processes from Llama to Tally with minimal disruption.

  • Testing: Implement a testing phase to ensure all governance functions are operational on Tally.

  • Documentation: Update all relevant documentation to reflect the transition and provide guidance to DAO members on using Tally for governance activities.

Conclusion:

This proposal seeks to ensure the long-term sustainability of our DAO’s on-chain governance by transitioning from Llama to Tally. This change is necessary, timely, and in the best interest of our community.

We welcome feedback & suggestions about all of the above from the community. This proposal will be a formal Snapshot proposal starting from Monday. Upon passing on Snapshot, the AGLD DAO will be working closely with the Tally team to specify the exact implementation. We hope this detailed plan can launch soon so we can continue to fulfill our mission: grow the Lootverse.

It’s reassuring that Tally is already working with many well-known DAOs. I think they’ll be a good fit for our DAO too… think it’s better than Llama

The transition to Tally seems like a great choice. Looking forward to more features and a reliable partner!

Definitely a great choice. Let’s see the transformation that comes with this decision. :muscle:

I think this is a good decision for the Lootverse. Looking forward to future developments!

It would be great if community members could participate in the testing phase. We could provide diverse feedback.
